Physical & Water Competency Standards

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following physical and swimming assessment standards during the selection process:

• Swim a minimum of 100 metres freestyle without interruption.
• Swim 50 metres within 1 minute.
• Swim 25 metres backstroke.
• Dive to a depth of 2 metres and retrieve a 4 kg object from the bottom of the pool.
• Tread water continuously for 5 minutes without using hands.
